Writing, Proofreading, and Editing
Through Editing & Publishing, Public Relations Writing, and English Composition, as well as other writing- and editing-intensive courses, I have strengthened my writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
I further developed those skills through my extracurricular activities, including my positions as copyeditor for the newspaper, activities editor for the yearbook, staff member for the literary magazine, program designer for student musical productions, and student blogger for the admissions department.
In a professional capacity, I put my skills to use at mental_floss writing posts three times a week and editing the occasional article or quiz.
Computers and Technology
Since the age of 3, I have been tapping away at computers. I can learn new programs quickly and can easily adapt to different operating systems and configurations. (I have professional and academic experience on both Mac and Windows operating systems.) I am also a quick and efficient typist.
I have taken classes in typing; the Microsoft Office suite of programs; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver; and QuarkXPress.
Graphic Design
During my undergraduate career at Chestnut Hill College, I became known as the go-to girl for T-shirt designs. I designed T-shirts for:
- the annual Christmas Decorating Night
- the Quidditch on the Hill tournament (along with the players' jerseys)
- CHC's third place at the Quidditch World Cup
- the admissions department's student blog
- the class of 2009's "109 nights" event
- CHC basketball fans
In addition to T-shirts, I also created a design for CHC's "Griffins Go Green" totebags, the logo for the school's service-learning program, and a logo for the activities team.
I served as the program, tickets, and advertising designer for the student-run musicals; a layout staff member of the literary magazine; and an editor of the yearbook.
For classes and clubs I have also designed numerous flyers, brochures, surveys, and booklets, including the popular iPlan booklet designed for Chestnut Hill College to help students stay on track.
